K and N Showroom and Training facility in Karben, Germany:
König & Neurath (K and N) was established in 1925 by Heinrich Neurath in Karben, Germany. The company was joined in 1930 by Heinrich Konig and officially became Konig + Neurath. The currnet owner, Egon Konig, joined in 1947 when the factory space in Karben was 3000 sq metres. By 1969 K and N occupied 10,000 square metres of space. K and N then took over the Holztapfel company in 1976 for production of cupboards and partitions. Egon Konig because sole owner of the Konig and Heurath in 1978.
K and N moved into export in 1982 establishing its first European sales partnerships and soon started exhibiting at trade exhibitions like Orgatec in Cologne. More production space was added in 1990 with the acquisition of a second manufacturing site at Kassel. kassel was to concentrate on high quality exectuive furniture.
Following German reunification in 1992 and the emergence of new markets K and N built Europe's most modern office furniture factory in Thuringia. 190 new jobs were created. The plant covers an area of 25,000 sqm.
K and N committed itself to the EWG ordinance No 1836/93 for environmental management in 1996. K and N was restructured during this year into a publically owned company. In 1997 construction of the K & N showroom and training centre was started in karben.
With the acquisition of Bolte in 1998 for the production of steel office furniture items total K and N employees now numbered 1340.
Now K and N occupies 150,000 sqm of factory space and is an international supplier of a complete, high quality, range of office furniture and seating. The company has 3 production sites and seven show rooms. K and N headquarters are in Karben, Germany. K and N manufacturers all wood and metal components in its products.
